Professor
Gipe has been on the faculty at Cal
Poly since 1975. Teaching assignments
have been in the areas of design,
merchandising and production. As Director
of the ATRC since it’s beginning
in 1992, Professor Gipe has worked
extensively with industry in product
development, costing, production,
business planning, operations and
supply chain management. Under the
Defense Logistics Agency contract
Professor Gipe managed a fully operational
apparel factory (specializing in low
volume production of military and
commercial apparel), a budget of almost
$2 million/year and a staff of 42.

Charles
Gilbert is president and founder of
Charles Gilbert Associates, Inc.,
a management-consulting firm to the
sewn products industry. Mr. Gilbert
is a graduate of Georgia Tech and
is a registered Professional Engineer.
Formerly president of Summerour and
Associates, Mr. Gilbert has been a
consultant to our industry for 37
years. He has served on the Sewn Products
Resource Council (formerly Apparel
Research Committee) of the American
Apparel and Footwear Association (AAFA)
for the last 28 years, and is past
chairman of that prestigious committee.
He is presently on the Executive Committee
of the Technical Advisory Committee
(TAC) of the AAFA and was Chairman
of the 1996 TAC paper. Mr. Gilbert’s
firm has worked with over 150 apparel
and sewn products companies in reducing
cycle times, improving quality, and
generating an employee-friendly, cost-competitive
environment in both manufacturing
and distribution operations.

A native North Carolinian, Mr.
Lowder
holds a BSBA degree from East Carolina
University in Greenville, NC.
Mr.
Lowder has participated in post-graduate
study programs taught by the
University
of North Carolina and the Wharton
School.
Mr.
Lowder’s entire
post-graduate career has been
spent in apparel manufacturing,
distribution, and management
consulting.

Dr.
Bruce Bradtmiller, ANTHROTECH, Inc.
Dr.
Bruce Bradtmiller is president of
ANTHROTECH, a small consulting firm
in human body size in Yellow Springs,
OH. With degrees from Indiana and
Northwestern Universities, he joined
the firm in 1983. He has been principal
investigator for a number of projects,
including the 1987-1988 anthropometric
survey of the U.S. Army, which now
serves as the standard for U.S. anthropometric
surveys. Since assuming leadership
of the firm in 1992, Bradtmiller has
been instrumental in expanding the
company’s client base to include
all of the U.S. military services,
a number of auto manufacturers and
the manufacturers of personal protective
equipment. His particular area of
interest is the development and testing
of apparel sizing systems. With a
number of publications and reports
on the topic, he is a consultant to
major retailers and manufacturers
of consumer clothing as well as all
three branches of the U.S. military
on sizing and fit. He has developed
fit testing methodology that has become
standard in the field, and has developed
size selection algorithms for a number
of dress and protective garments.
He has been a member of the Apparel
Research Network (funded by the Defense
Logistics Agency), and the CAESAR
Task Force. He currently sits on Society
of Automotive Engineers (International)
Committee G-13 on Human Body Modeling,
and on the International Standards
Organization (ISO) Technical Committee
159/SC3/WG1 on Anthropometry, and
is a member of a number of professional
scientific organizations.
Denise
Carley, EDI Integration Corporation
Denise
Carley of EDI Integration Corporation
has been involved in the EDI business
for 20 years. In 1983, she joined
EDI, Inc. whose owners were a large
part of the original team of experts
who, in 1971 first conceptualized
Electronic Data Interchange (EDI),
its list of standards and documentation.
EDI, Inc. also created the first PC
translator in the country. Upon leaving
EDI, Inc. in 1987, she joined EDI
Integration Corporation. EDI Integration
Corporation was formed to implement
companies both large and small into
EDI in a simplistic and site-specific
manner while retaining EDI’s
purest form. She has a vast knowledge
of EDI software, Value Added Networks
and communications. Her expertise
also lies in the EDI X12 Standards,
conceptualization and bringing to
life the implementation of an EDI
environment.
Lucy
Csizmas and Jeanette Vandenbergh, Csizmas/
Vandenbergh Associates
Lucy
has over 20 years experience as an investment
banker and marketing director, as well
as project and sales manager. She successfully
presented and placed private equity,
IPO’s, commercial real estate transactions,
mergers & acquisitions, and convertible
notes and is experienced in asset-based
lending.Jeanette has over 20 years of
commercial lending experience in positions
of increasing responsibility, which included
audit, underwriting, negotiating and
managing commercial lending transactions,
loan workout and liquidation, and corporate
credit committee. Jeanette is a licensed
CPA in California and Illinois. Csizmas/Vandenbergh
Associates, into its 5th year in business,
has developed a niche in the “tough” debt
deal market ranging from $300,000-$20,000,000.

Reginald
K. Nugent, Cal Poly Pomona Faculty
Reginald
Nugent is currently the Director
of the Center for Entrepreneurship
and Innovation at California
State
Polytechnic University, Pomona.
Mr. Nugent joined Cal Poly Pomona
in the fall of 2001 as the Director
for the CEI and has been engaged
in efforts to develop a platform
that will strengthen Cal Poly
Pomona’s
capacity to foster entrepreneurship
and new venture development
in the
Southern California region. Mr.
Nugent’s professional
background includes over 15
years in the financial
management and entrepreneurship
field. He was a co-founder
and Vice-President
of Finance for SmartHousing, Inc.
a real estate development start-up
company in the San Francisco Bay
area. He was also a co-founder
and
CFO for an Internet-based software
company, Isadra, Inc. that
was launched
in the Silicon Valley in 1996.
VerticalNet, Inc., successfully
acquired
the company in 1999. Mr. Nugent
was co-founder of Isadra International
Limited a software development
and information management
company that
was formed in Jamaica in 1992.
His experience in the financial
management
field also includes working as
a financial and budget analyst
for
entities in the public sector,
in the transportation and municipal
finance field for a period of 10
years.
